Where the heck have I been?
I have been pretty much MIA for the past two weeks. I blame it on my new job and poor time management. But mostly on my new job. I’ve mentioned this before, but probably haven’t really explained it in full detail so I will take the time to do so now. I am the Assistant Resident Director of Swig Hall aka the Cyphi Community. And let me tell, you this job is a big deal. Probably one of the most important jobs I have ever had. It’s a promotion from my position last year as Community Facilitator aka CF (known to the rest of the world as a Resident Assistant (RA)). Anyway, because this job requires a lot more work, the training is longer and more extensive. So my training started on August 16th, my birthday. And since the training (we call it formation) started, I have had very little free time. And since I’m also doing the game on diet, a lot of that free time has been spent exercising or making sure that I find a way to get those precious seven hours of sleep.
So how am I finding the time to write this post right now? Well, we do get weekends off. And the CFs are coming for their training this week so that means that I get a little bit of a break. Granted, I will play a huge role in their formation, but for now, I’m just trying to get ahead on all my work so that I can have some time to cater to my blog. Because while blogging can be tough and time consuming, it always puts a smile on my face. And let me tell you, after long days of learning about duty coverage and judicial sanctions, I could use a smile.
So now it’s time to share: What puts a smile on your face? AND What are your best time management tricks?

I know exactly how those pesky jobs butt into blog time. I’ve been suffering the same. Glad to see you poking your head out!
I’m sorry to hear you’ve been so busy with work! I how things will quiet down for you a little. I know how painful it can be to feel like days all are work, work, word and needing something happy at the end of it. What put a smile on my face, today, was watching on TV the documentary on Peace the Polar Bear (you can find most parts of it on Youtube). I watch it every time it’s on TV and it always put me in a good mood. So if you love animals, maybe this will cheer you up a little.
I will have to youtube said TV documentary. It sounds adorable and like the perfect thing to put a smile on my face.
What puts a smile on my face – lots of things, low key weekends, hanging with friends, biking, comments on my blog (some crack me up!)…
As far as time management tricks…. I just do my best to get it done. I prep posts for books as I read them as well as put key pages or thoughts in the post to use (or not) when writing the review), I prep morning post thoughts the night before so I can just touch it up in the morning. I read at appointments (hair cuts, doctor, whatever) and at trains, stop lights…. long lines….
A favorite: I make appointments when offices are closed (hair cuts, tanning, dog shots, etc…) so I do not have to be put on hold, the right person calls me back to schedule and I have cut out the middle man.
Sheila, low key weekends sound so good right now. You are one of the bloggers who amazes me the most with your time management skills. I will definitely try to implement some of your tricks.
Oh and welcome back!
My family puts a smile on my face. I wish I had some magical time management trick, but I don’t – I think we all just do the best we can.
Reading definitely puts a smile on my face! And darn working anyway – it gets in the way of all our fun
